KLLF Sues on Behalf of Upstate Man Beaten By Police on Video

KLLF filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Zachary Butchino, who was beaten by police on camera in a cell in the Plattsburgh Police Station in 2017.

Mr. Butchino, a U.S. Army combat veteran, was experiencing PTSD and other mental health issues while in police custody. Rather than de-escalate the situation, police gave him what they called a "secret handshake" —a premeditated assault that left Mr. Butchino bloodied after being punched in the face while restrained in a defenseless position.

The lawsuit against the City of Plattsburgh and five Plattsburgh police officers alleges violations of the United States Constitution and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

WCAX-3 television covered the filing and interviewed KLLF attorney Doug Lieb.
