Ali Frick Advises New York Times Readers on Housing Discrimination

The New York Times’ “Ask Real Estate” advice column has sought KLLF’s help to answer questions about housing discrimination from three readers in recent months. This past Sunday, KLLF partner Ali Frick explained how a co-op that refused to allow a Sabbath-observant resident to enter the building with a key rather than an electronic keypad could be violating nondiscrimination laws. In May, Ali advised a hearing-impaired resident that a request for a new intercom system would “almost certainly be considered reasonable under the law.” And in December, Ali explained how a lawyer could help a co-op owner assess whether her co-op was preventing her from selling her apartment in a discriminatory manner.
